CONCEPTS & CONTROVERSIES of CORRECTIVE FEMORAL OSTEOTOMY
نویسنده
چکیده
Key Points • Normal patellar tracking is influenced by static and dynamic constraints. • It is assumed that dynamic constraints assume greater relative importance in the face of static constraint pathology such as patellar erosion. • Radiographic measurement of femoral varus is prone to over-estimation even when radiographs are closely scrutinized for proper limb positioning. • The ideal “target” femoral varus conformation following corrective femoral osteotomy (CFO) is not known.

Unexpected angular or rotational deformity after corrective osteotomy
BACKGROUND Codman's paradox reveals a misunderstanding of geometry in orthopedic practice. Physicians often encounter situations that cannot be understood intuitively during orthopedic interventions such as corrective osteotomy. Occasionally, unexpected angular or rotational deformity occurs during surgery. This study aimed to draw the attention of orthopedic surgeons toward the concepts of orie...
متن کاملA Modified Technique of Fixation for Proximal Femoral Valgus Osteotomy in Abnormal Bone: A Report of Two Cases
The ideal size of intramedullary device to fix corrective osteotomy of proximal femur in abnormal bone in children and small patients may not be easily available. We report the successful use of Rush rod in combination with multiple Kirschner wires to fix the corrective osteotomy of coxa vara and shepherd crook deformity in two patients with osteogenesis imperfecta and fibrous dysplasia. The un...
متن کاملIntra-articular corrective osteotomy for malunited Hoffa fracture: A case report
Hoffa fracture, an isolated coronal plane fracture of the posterior aspect of the femoral condyle, is known as an unstable, intra-articular fracture, and therefore, operative treatment is recommended. However, insufficient open reduction or failure of fixation may lead to malunion. We performed intra-articular corrective osteotomy for a malunited Hoffa fracture in a 31-year-old man and obtained...
متن کاملSaddle embolism after corrective femoral osteotomy: a case report.
We present a case of recurrent saddle embolism 6 days and 9 days following corrective osteotomy of the left femur in a 64-year-old man with a history of atrial fibrillation. Although saddle embolism is a relatively rare event, orthopaedic surgeons should be aware of this condition.
متن کاملSingle Cut Distal Femoral Varus Osteotomy (SCFO): A Preliminary Study
Background: Genu valgum usually originates from a deformity of distal femur that is often corrected by distal femoralvarus osteotomy. The osteotomy includes both components of angulationcorrection and translation because the siteof osteotomy is not commonly at the apex of deformity. Improvement of patellar tracking not only depends on valguscorrection, but also it may be partially due to centra...
